- Manchester United have now won all three of their opening WSL games, sitting third on the table – with nine points (joint with Cheslea) and just one point behind league leaders City. Spurs suffer second consecutive loss, and sit seventh in the table – on 4 points.
Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Tottenham saw boss Marc Skinner full of praise for summer signing Elisabeth Terland.
“She doesn’t dip off her focus …

Skinner said: “She doesn’t dip off her focus. Whether it’s pressing or whatever the task is, she’s all in. I think she knows Erling Haaland personally [Terland’s brother is in a relationship with Haaland’s sister] and I don’t want to compare the two but the immense and intense action of both of them, that’s how she performs.”
30 minutes into the match and the Red Devils had yet to make any meaningful impact on the game. But as half-time neared, Terland proved why she’s a key signing for United, scoring twice in a double blow for Spurs.
A teasing delivery from the right, with Terland timing her run perfectly, connecting cleanly win the cross, and the ball hitting the underside of the crossbar saw the ball in the back of the net.
The 23-year-old Norwegian clutched the Manchester United badge – a kit she wore as a childhood fan!
“If you ever want to watch how to volley a ball from a side-on position under pressure, that goal today, female or male doesn’t matter, it’s a fantastic hit,” said Skinner. “She slows the moment and seizes the opportunity under the most immense pressure. That’s the beauty of her. I’ve never seen a player dispatch with such calmness. Ellen White was the same in the moments when it counted.”
