Surely, Man City will win the WSL? Another solid performance extends the lead
Manchester City are in a prime position to win this season of the WSL. There has been no team that has yet been able to match this team, sleek and dominant, it’s hard to see even Chelsea being able to outplay them.
In true City fashion, they controlled the game from the start, but diligent defending from WSL newcomers Crystal Palace meant City had to wait until nearly halftime before they found the back of the net.
English youngster Jess Park broke the deadlock with an extraordinary long-range strike.
Early into the second half, they doubled their lead with Jill Rood scooping up a loose ball in the box.
Chances were few and far between for Palace, but a strike from Katie Stengel hitting the post did offer an insight into what Palace could offer if they were to stay in the WSL this season and have a little more time to adjust to top-flight football.
Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw grabbed her fourth goal of the season in the 73rd minute with Park providing the assist.
City are unbeaten so far this season having won five games and a drawing one. They are three points clear of second-place Brighton.
The loss marks Palace’s fourth out of their six fixtures. They sit ninth in the table – not too shabby for the newly promoted side.
