Manchester United WFC vs Manchester City WFC FA Cup preview

After yesterday’s Chelsea win (gutted for Liverpool), we’ll find out who will be facing the Blues in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final.

It’s not an ordinary semi-final, it’s a classic Manchester derby as City hosts their neighbour Manchester United for what’s set to be an end-to-end thriller. Both sides are gunning for silverware, and for City, it’s realistically their only option to save their season.

Manchester United will be going into this semi-final full of confidence. They currently sit about City in the WSL table and are in fine form, boasting the best defensive record in the league and a high early-scoring rate.

City has struggled with performance recently – with key attacking players Khadija Shaw, Lauren Hemp and Vivianne Miedema all sidelined with injury. In a major blow, City confirmed that Miedema could be benched for the rest of the season. The club recently parted ways with manager Gareth Taylor and Nick Cushing has since stepped in as interim head coach. With so many key City players out with injury (Greenwood, Knaak and Fujino) and United’s strong defensive abilities – United are in a great position to advance to the finals where they’ll face West London’s Chelsea.

Women’s FA Cup semi-final 2025 – Chelsea book first seat

Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 in the first match of the FA Cup semi-finals with Aggie Beever Jones scoring in added time. Liverpool had put up a great fight, having grown into the game, creating several chances to double their lead. But Chelsea proved why they are serial winners, they kept fighting and prodding the enemy and eventually got rewarded for it. Chelsea’s dreams of winning the quadruple is still on the table. Although the gap at the top of the WSL table has shortened recently, it’s hard to see United taking over them. But if United beat City today, I’d put my money on United winning the FA Cup.
