Brighton shining in the new WSL season

October 14, 2024October 14, 2024
  • Brighton have secured nine points in their first four matches of the new season. The club are currently sitting fourth in the league – with players Kirby, Parris and Vilamala key to success this season.

Brighton shining in the new WSL season

It’s been a bit of a dream start to the season for Brighton, a team that finished 9th in the league during the last campaign. With three wins and one loss they currently sit fourth in the table on nine points – way ahead of heavyweights Arsenal and Spurs.

Incredibly, Brighton only need two more victories to equal the five they managed last season. That is what you call improvement.

The Seagulls have had a remarkable turnaround compared to last season. With new boss Dario Vidosic at the helm and star players such as Fran Kirby, Nikita Parris and and on-loan Barcelona player Bruna Vilamala bringing an exciting attacking flair to the club, how far the club can go this season is the real question.

Whilst the weekend’s performance wasn’t their best – only finding the back of the net once despite 11 shots, their defending was superb … and sometimes that’s what’s needed to win the trophy.

Attendance: 1,166

What’s next? Brighton will next host Manchester United on Saturday, October 19 while Palace travel to Liverpool a day later.
