Jonas Out – Arsenal fans have had enough

October 14, 2024October 14, 2024
  • Arsenal lost 2-1 to Chelsea on Saturday, falling five points behind league leaders Manchester City. The Gunners have had a poor start to the season and the Gunners boss Jonas Eidevall is feeling the heat with fans calling for him to be sacked. Following the loss, someone had spray painted ‘Jonas Out’ on the wall near the stadium.

“Jonas Out” – Arsenal lose to rivals Chelsea as fans call for manager to get the sack

The simmering frustration among Arsenal fans reached a boiling point this weekend as the Gunners fell to their London rivals, Chelsea, leaving many supporters calling for Jonas Eidevall’s departure from the North London club. Outside the Emirates, someone made their feelings very clear – “Jonas Out” was spray painted onto a wall within minutes of the game ending.

With a passionate fan base and a club willing to invest Arsenal’s title drought is a bitter pill to swallow. The club are the only WSL team able to play all their home matches in the club’s main stadium. Boss Eidevall has had the luxury of bringing in the players he wants (except Keira Walsh)  and letting go of those who don’t fit into his plans (Vivianne Miedema). Arsenal were willing to spend a record-breaking £1 million on Walsh, and despite knowing that letting Miedema – (the WSL top scorer) – go on a free transfer would be an incredibly unpopular choice, Arsenal still backed him.

Arsenal’s scoring woes are not a new development, they have for some time looked flat against low-block defenses and concede goals with alarming regularity. It’s a rough time for the Gunners, with fans being sacking Jonas is the way to liven the team up again.

Sure, it’s still early in the season, but if Arsenal wants to be serious title contenders, they need to turn this ship around—and fast. Winning a cup won’t cut it this time; they need title. The clock is ticking!

What’s next? Arsenal face West Ham on Sunday whilst Chelsea will be tested against Tottenham. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have mid-week Champions League matches.
